Using the Health Scorecard
How to begin
From the
Health Scorecard home page, click on the
To Scorecard link on the top navigation bar. Once on the next page, click on any of the national, state or county names to begin your data search for that region.
Section descriptions
Demographics / Census DataThis section is comprised of population size, age, births, ethnicity, race and gender distribution. Actual census data is only available every 5 years (ex: years ending in a 0 or a 5)
Health StatisticsThis section is comprised of data that is related to disease or indicators related to risk factors.
Comparison ReportThis report compares health statistics for up to two counties, states or even national data with the selected state or county. Simply select your populations and year to compare.
Trend ReportThis report compares health statistics for a particular county, state or even national data over time. Simply select the years you wish to compare.
Scorecard ReportThis report compares health statistics for a particular county to benchmarks for the selected year. Benchmarks available are: state (only the counties' state), national or
Healthy People 2010 target health goals. For this report, a grade was determined using methodology similar to the
United Health Foundation's "America's Health Rankings". View our
methodology.
Icons

Displays a chart of the selected data.

Prints the desired content, which is correctly formatted for a printer.

Sends the desired content via e-mail to a colleague or friend.

Expands and collapses additional information sections that provide a description of the data and a link to the original data.

Sorts data columns in ascending or descending order.
